ULFOZ® 150 mg TABLETS
Fluconazole 150 mg
Therapeutic Class: Triazole Antifungal Agent
Composition: Each tablet contains Fluconazole 150 mg.
Mechanism of Action: Fluconazole inhibits fungal cytochrome P450-dependent lanosterol 14-α-demethylase, disrupting ergosterol synthesis and compromising fungal cell membrane integrity.
Indications: Vulvovaginal candidiasis, candidal balanitis, and other susceptible Candida infections when systemic antifungal treatment is clinically indicated.
Dosage and Administration: For uncomplicated vulvovaginal candidiasis in adults, the recommended dose is 150 mg orally as a single dose. Other fungal infections require indication-specific dosing and treatment duration as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to fluconazole or other azole antifungals. Concomitant use with certain medicines that prolong the QT interval may be contraindicated.
Precautions: Use cautiously in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, cardiac rhythm disorders, or electrolyte abnormalities. Pregnancy requires particular consideration; oral fluconazole should generally be avoided for vaginal candidiasis during pregnancy unless specifically indicated by a specialist.
Adverse Effects: Headache, nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, and skin rash. Rare but serious reactions include hepatotoxicity, severe hypersensitivity, and QT prolongation.
Drug Interactions: Fluconazole inhibits CYP2C9, CYP2C19, and CYP3A4 to varying degrees and may increase concentrations of warfarin, certain sulfonylureas, phenytoin, and other interacting medicines. A medication review is recommended before treatment.
Storage: Store according to the manufacturer's instructions, protected from excessive heat and moisture.
Presentation: Tablets containing Fluconazole 150 mg.
