TURBOFLOX 200 mg & 400 mg TABLETS
Active Ingredient: Ofloxacin 200 mg / 400 mg.
Therapeutic Class: Fluoroquinolone Antibiotic.
Composition: Each tablet contains Ofloxacin 200 mg or Ofloxacin 400 mg.
Mechanism of Action: Ofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, interfering with bacterial DNA replication and leading to bacterial cell death.
Indications: Susceptible bacterial infections, including selected urinary tract infections, prostatitis, and certain respiratory, skin, and soft-tissue infections, when clinically appropriate. Use depends on local resistance patterns and approved indications.
Dosage and Administration: Adults: Dosage depends on the type and severity of infection, renal function, and local prescribing guidelines. Depending on the indication, prescribed regimens may use 200–400 mg per dose at appropriate intervals. The 200 mg and 400 mg strengths are not automatically interchangeable. Follow the physician’s prescription and approved product information.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to ofloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics; history of fluoroquinolone-associated tendinitis or tendon rupture. Generally avoid in patients with a history of epilepsy or other significant seizure predisposition unless specifically justified.
Precautions: Fluoroquinolones may cause tendinitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system effects, and disturbances in blood glucose. Use cautiously in older adults and patients with renal impairment or QT-prolongation risk. Reserve for infections where benefits outweigh risks and safer alternatives are unsuitable.
Adverse Effects: Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, headache, dizziness, and insomnia. Serious adverse effects may include tendon injury, neuropathy, severe allergic reactions, and cardiac rhythm disturbances.
Drug Interactions: Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum, iron, zinc, and sucralfate can reduce absorption; separate administration according to the prescribing information. Review interactions with warfarin, QT-prolonging medicines, and drugs that may lower the seizure threshold.
Storage: Store according to the manufacturer’s instructions, protected from moisture and excessive heat.
Presentation: Tablets containing Ofloxacin 200 mg or 400 mg.
